Bio

Qingyang He is an interdisciplinary new media art practitioner, HCI (Human-Computer Interaction) researcher, and VJ.

Her practice and research sit at the intersections of computational design, live audiovisual interactive performance, user interface design of applied XR technologies, and HAI (Human-AI) co-creative systems. She freely crosses the boundaries of academic research and artistic activity, and continues to explore and express the notion of ‘motive-driven’ art and her philosophy of love via consistent creative practices.



As a researcher, Qingyang has published in several top-tier HCI conferences, including the ACM CHI (Computer-Human Interaction) 2023 and Chinese CHI 2023. Her most recent research projects are submitted and currently under review for CSCW (Computer-Supported Cooperative Work) 2024 and POM (Politics of the Machines) Aachen 2024. As a creative practitioner, her smart wearable design work has been selected as the Top 20 Finalist in Mobile HCI Student Design Competition 2022. As an independent curator, her exhibition proposal on won the Top 5 Finalist of Hyundai Blue Prize Art+Tech 2023. As a VJ, she has been actively participating and delivering visual experiments in the indie rock scenes in mainland China.  

She would receive her BFA in Media & Arts with a track on Creative Practice from Duke Kunshan University and Duke University in May, 2024.
